Question

Windows Live Mail Orphaned account location

Mar 20, 2014 3:25AM PDT

Dear Sirs,

I am using Windows 7. & Windows Live Mail 2012 Build 16.4.35522.0110.

I am really desperately looking for my Orphaned accounts - it is now the 3rd time that all my e-mails were "lost" and put into Orphaned accounts which I cannot locate. I read through the most recent information here, but to no avail.
Please could you be specific and refer me to where I can look for it as I desperately need letters that I have stored on my e-mail folder.

Looking forward to hearing from you by return of mail.

Best regards,

Answer
As far as I know.

This is between you and Microsoft to sort out. But my advice is to stop using Windows Live Mail and go get Thunderbird so you can archive your email so you don't lose it again.

Answer
I'm using the same version of WLM with Windows 7.

To see all your WLM accounts, do this:
- Click the down point arrow to the left of the word HOME on the menu bar.
- Click Options -> Email accounts. That will list all your accounts.
`
The location of the WLM email and contacts is C:\Users\your id\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. Inside this there is a folder with the name of your ISP. Mine's called "Comcast (wp 372", my ISP is Comcast. Inside this folder is one for each of your email folders, Deleted Items, Drafts, Inbox, etc. The Inbox folder contains all the email that are in the inbox, one file for each email. You can double-click them to open.
`
Good luck.
