Resolved Question

Windows Live Mail on Windows 8.1

Nov 2, 2013 9:38AM PDT

Does Windows Live Mail run on Windows 8.1? Even if it does, should I consider using it? The Mail app that comes with Windows 8.1 appears to use IMAP and not POP (or so it says). It is very important to me that I be able to import mail messages and contacts from my old Windows 7 computer to my new Windows 8.1 computer.

Live Mail "Works" But Hyperlinks will no longer copy.

Live mail works in Win 8.1 except hyperlinks will no longer transfer when copying text from a web page, Word, or another email. Live Mail works with POP or IMAP settings. Color will not transfer either.

The lack of hyperlinks transferring in pasted text forced me to quit using Live Mail. Microsoft has known about the problem since October, but nothing has been done.

The problem is in IE-11.There are reports of Windows 7 users who upgraded to IE-11 and experienced the same failures with their Live Mail, and when they went back to IE-10, their problems with Live Mail disappeared. However, there is no downgrade possible for Windows 8.1 users.
