Windows Live Mail freezes when trying to email photos.

by Peto66 / June 30, 2015 12:40 AM PDT
Hi guys,
I have Windows Live Mail running with Windows 8.1.
Been emailing photos ok for months, then suddenly the other day, after having ''created an album on Windows Live One drive'' it goes to ''Publishing photo album'' and freezes until I disconnect the modem and delete the mail from the outbox. Anyone with this problem, I have done a repair of Windows Essentials, which turned out successfully to no avail.

Maybe try an other client (?)

As far as I know, Windows Live Mail isn't the best e-mail client in the world... Try Mozilla Thunderbird or Opera Mail, they are both very good and they should solve your problem... Happy

My bet was the email was too large.

You may have to share links to the photos and not the photos in the email. Or share 1 or 2 photos at a time.

I have a friend with the same problem.

WLM works jut fine for me, but my friend is having the same problem. He's using WLM with Windows 7 to send photos under 1 MB in size. He decided to switch to Gmail. If I had the problem, I think I'd switch to Thunderbird as someone else here has suggested.

WLM has been working ok with pics over 1MB. The problem is that it suddenly stopped downsizing the pics before sending, freezing while ''Publishing photo album''

WLM fills forums with folk looking for fixes. So far, the only solid fix is to move away.

WLM has it's own forum if you want to pursue that.

I'd put it on dropbox/photobucket or such.

Good find. Now use the workarounds (attacht the pics to your message yourself) until it's fixed.

I have MSFT Support and here's what the answer is...

In my case, for whatever reason, highlighting/right clicking pics and then "sending them to mail recipient" caused the publishing album freeze up. Go to your outbox and delete the email, open task manager and end all live mail. Re-open live mail and it should stop "trying" to publish. To attach pics in email use the "paperclip" icon within Live Mail. OR, quit using live mail which was what I'm going to do as well.
