I've been using WLM with Comcast since 2009. At first WLM had bugs which caused me to have to uninstall & reinstall, but for about the last 2 years I haven't had any problems with it. The first thing you should do is to check your server settings to be sure you're using the ones recommended by Comcast. If that doesn't fix the problem, you'll need to either switch to another email program or uninstall & reinstall WLM. If you install Thunderbird, it will save all your email and contacts before you do anything else. A lot of folks here recommend it, and I know it's good. Personally I'm sticking with WLM because it works very well for me.

it runs on windows 7, message comes up when the 'reply' or 'new message' icon is clicked: "A problem occurred while trying to open this message." Internet provider (Comcast) tells me it's a Microsoft issue. It's able to receive email. What could be wrong, what should I look at?
