As you can't control this app's version or changes from the mothership I suggest you move to Thunderbird or such.

I seem to have picked up a strange bug today in my copy of Windows Live Mail 2009.
I use WLM 2009 in order to use HTML based email stationery developed in Dreamweaver. My stationery has worked fine for years but, today, after sending with a white background, the background color appears to change when I check the message in my SENT folder (I'm assuming it is also what the recipient sees).
Some messages have a red background, some a blue background but why ? When I send, the background color under FORMAT is white but when I check the colored version, no background color is flagged ...... even though it is either red or blue !
Seems bizarre !!!
Any ideas ?
