Windows Live mail 2009

Feb 14, 2011 11:37PM PST

I want to find the best/safest place to have my father download the 2009 version of Windows live mail. I want this version because when 2010 version came out it requires sending/uploading pictures in e-mails in some very funky way, which I hated. My father uses e-mail only to send and receive basic e-mails and family/vaca pictures. I think this is best for him. Where can I do this for him and/OR am I wrong about newer versions of WLM? His new computer has 2011 on it. (ALL I know is that when my 2009 version got the 2010 upgrade I hated it and I went and found a way to get rid of the upgrade, thru a forum, and did so!! Thank goodness. Thx

I'd try Microsoft...

Windows Live Essentials 2011 is not available for Windows XP users for compatibility reasons, so Microsoft continues to offer the 2009 version for download at http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials-xp. Just uninstall the 2010 version before installing.

Hope this helps,
John

P.S. There was no 2010 version, but the 2011 version includes some significant design changes so your father may still prefer to stick with the 2009 version for the time being.

He has Windows 7 op system

I do not like Windows Live mail's 2010 upgrade. I figure 2011 has the same issue with forcing one to send/upload pics to some place in outer space? Bottom line is...

I want to find Windows Live Mail 2009's download for my father who has new computer with Windows 7 and it already has Windows Live 2011. I am assuming it will have the same crap that upgraded in a download to my 2009 version which I "un-upgraded" my Windows Live 2009 so it was easier!

Simply, where do I have my father download 2009 version for Windows 7 Op system??

Did you read my previous reply?

1.) I provided a link to the 2009 Windows Live Essentials download page. (Yes, it works for Windows 7.)
2.) I noted that there was no 2010 version of Windows Live Essentials. (There have been 2007, 2009, and 2011.)

Thx. I read it but understood it to mean...

That you thought we were dealing with XP and now realize you were only saying the 2011 does not work with XP. Thx. I will have him uninstall "2011 Windows Live" which came on him computer. I am little confused about the uninstalling 2010 in your comment. I think I have it understood.

What I think.

I think folk should distance themselves from this version. I see Thunderbird appears to import your old Live mail so is it time to jump ship?
