Question

Windows Live Email slow action when sending or receiving ema

Feb 17, 2016 11:36AM PST

I installed a new router from Comcast the other day and took the opportunity to secure my home wifi network at the same time by adding a password. Now my Windows Live Emails are taking forever to appear in my Windows Live Inbox although they seem to be appearing right away on the Comcast/Xfinity email server. I am sometimes getting error messages relating to my email server. Also, oddly, yesterday I received from Microsoft two emails, 10 minutes apart, supplying me with password reset codes? I am confused as to how Windows Live/Microsoft should be affected by adding a password to my Wi-Fi network or why it's acting up at all. Also, my internet connections are responding very slowly all of a sudden.

Ignorant of DNS 8.8.8.8
Feb 18, 2016 5:57AM PST

R. Proffitt: Thanks. Real problem seems to be with my Windows Live email program, not sure if info from switching Comcast router and setting new home network password a few days ago may have impacted that? Didn't think WLM program cared about that but I don't know. I think Comcast password may have been changed. The 2 error messages I am getting is 0x800CCC0F and 0x800CCC19. Once the SSL was secured and most recently it wasn't. Also it referenced an insecure socket error: 10053. I have a Gmail account which is working fine. My WLM emails also now require that I hit the send/receive icn at the top of the page in addition to hitting 'send'. I would like to switch to my Gmail account but I can't figure out how to get WLM to auto relay my emails to it. Also, what is the DNS 8.8.8.8 you refer to? None of my issues seem to change when I hardwire to the router, raise it off the floor, operate nearer to it, etc...
Thanks

Re: errors in WLM

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/813514 tells what those 2 error codes mean:
- Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes of this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
- A time-out occurred while communicating with the server

If gmail works fine, it's not your side of the connection that has issues, but the comcast e-mail server side. Time to call their customer service, I'm afraid.

Server issues
Feb 18, 2016 6:21AM PST

No, that's very helpful. I was on the phone with them for over 5 hours a few days ago trying to perform the 'simple' task of installing on of their new routers and adding a password to my unsecured home network. Then, when this problem occurred, after 45 minutes seeking help on this problem they denied that it was their issue and referred me to Microsoft. At least now I can talk to them with some assurance that it is their problem.

Comcast or Windows Live Mail screwed up
Feb 19, 2016 5:14AM PST

After calling Comcast with this new info they booted me upstairs to their Wireless advanced Team and a nice, knowledgeable guy ignored everything I had to tell him and started from scratch, working directly on my new Comcast router, fixing issues, adding new software (or whatever). He came back and assured me the router was now much more powerful and the problems were solved. I was so grateful! Since then I can't open videos, can barely read regular emails, in my Windows Live Mail and that program (WLM) is extremely slow, intermittent. Sometimes the email quits because it hasn't received a response from the server. Also, the internet is sometimes quick and other times takes forever. Meanwhile, the customer service from Comcast is ineffective and from Windows is non-existent.
The 2 error messages I am getting is 0x800CCC0F and 0x800CCC19. Once the SSL was secured and most recently it wasn't. Also it referenced an insecure socket error: 10053. Windows 7 Home Premium.

All of this because I simply wanted to secure my home network!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically, it's simple: it's either your things of comcasts things.

So it's rather simple. Find a friend with a laptop and an Ethernet-cable. Or find some device with Linux and an Ethernet cable. Plug it directly into the comcast modem/router.

- If all is fine now, the cause is in your things connected to the comcast things.
- If it's still the same mess, it definitely is an issue with the comcast things, because it's the same with all your things involved (Ethernet cable. PC, OS and application) are different.

This is starting to sound like malware or other.

http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/305621-windows-live-mail-error-id-0x800ccc0f.html for example goes on and on with the errors changing along the way. The fact you can't open videos and all the errors you are getting suggests to me that there is some OS infection or corruption.

These infections are getting very hard to find and remove. And removal no longer means the OS and apps are fixed. This is why more and more folk factory restore today. Painful as that is.
