Windows Live Category Name

by TwoWayStreet / June 12, 2009 2:49 PM PDT

Hi,

I'm facing a wierd problem here, hope I can get some insight. =)

Anyway, when I try to rename one of my categories, it says that I have already used that name. However, I don't see that category name in my Windows Live Messenger at all.

I have double checked with my Windows Live contact list on the web page.

Could it be that the category is hidden because there are no contacts in it? I'm really clueless here.

Thanks for the help in advance. =)

Three questions....
by John.Wilkinson / June 13, 2009 1:59 AM PDT

1.) Is this happening on both the website and within Windows Live Mail or is it localized on one of the two?
2.) Does this occur with everything you try to rename a category to or just specific names?
3.) Can you create a new category with the same name as that which is rejected in the renaming process?

Let us know.
John

Hi

1) Yes it happens to both.

2) Just a specific name.

3) Nope, tried that.

Thanks,

Renaming

If you can't rename, perhaps the application has a default that does not let categories with those names be created.

Cheers,

Hmm it's not possible. I've used that name before. It's only after the upgrade from the older version of MSN messenger to the live one that this problem surfaces.

When I upgraded, the category names were all messed up. i.e. wrong groups having wrong names.

Jermyn

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
