Windows Live

I have a new laptop. When I transferred my videos (I use Window Live Photo Gallery), I no longer can hear the audio. Previously, I used the k-lite codec pack and was able to hear the audio. I now have an HP g6 using Windows 8. It's 64 bit, but my browser (IE) is 32-bit. I've tried downloading this s/w a number of times, specifically the standard version, both 32- and 64-bit. I save it and then run it. It pauses after about 2 to 3 mb, then says it's finished. Then is says that the download file is corrupt. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!
