Boot to your Dell Resource CD and run the Dell diagnostics from there. You should run the whole thing and see if there are any issues.
I have a dell Dimension 4550 it was running really sloowwww.So i thought well i had it for awhile it just needs a good reformat. I reformated the hardrive it started widnows everything works fine then i did a windows update then i restarted. Then i was loading windows the screen turn black for 10 sec then restarted again. And it does the same thing. So I tried reformating again...Same thing. So I did a fix boot from my XP HOME cd (dosent have any scratches on the cd its perfect). So i started thinking its the bios well i went into safe mode and IT WORKED. So bios is fine boot secquence is fine. So i tried installing updates from safe mode. But i cant do that cause i need internet. But i cant get internet cause i need drivers wich dont install in safe mode. but work fine in windows. So any ideas..
BTW:I Even put a new hardrive in and samething happens, nothing is bent on the motherboard there is NO hardware probs wht so ever. Even the cpu socket is fine along with ram, pci cards, power supply. I am recently trying to work with bootcfg by putting in my windows cd but it dosent help.
