windows installer bug

I use Windows XP Pro, up to date, and I get an error code 1324 when I try to install some programs. I can't understand why this happens, and the text that comes with the error is the same of the last error that the system has encountered.
For example, when I was using my usb flash memory drive, I got an error message saying that the periferal (DRIVE F) was not accessible. I resolved the problem. But later, when I tried to install some programs, the error code 1324 would come up saying that the DRIVE F is not accessible, even though drive F is not mounted.
Does anybody have an idea how to resolve this freaky annoying error?

Sorry. No clue.

It's usually related to specific software but not one title was noted. I don't see this error often to call it a Windows XP bug.

Some of the programs it has given me problems with are TextPad 4.3 and Konfabulator 2.x. It's true it's not really a windows general bug, but it's an error created from unknown circumstances... I havent found anything about it around the web so far. Thanks anyway

1. The machine must be free of any pests that Housecall or Ewido find. If not, you'll see a variety of issues.
2. Any out of the ordinary protection software can trip up installers. Teatimer for example has been a recent issue. It's not that Teatimer is the issue, but people don't know to turn it off for such installs.
3. Contact the authors. If it's a common problem with their titles, they'll have the answer.
