Windows Home Server ... How Has It Worked for You?

Jul 19, 2008 10:38AM PDT

I?m about to take the plunge and purchase a Windows Home Server (WHS) system. However, I?ve been hesitating because I?ve occasionally seen forum posts where people say that WHS crashed and trashed all their data.

I don?t guess it would be fair to expect it to never, ever crash. But even if it did, wouldn?t Microsoft have made it to that the OS could be repaired/re-installed without having to trash the data?

So, I guess I have a three-part question:
(1) Does Windows Home Server work reliably for you?
(2) If it crashes, is there a recovery utility?
(3) If a re-install is needed, does Windows Home Server have a re-installation option that is not destructive to the data?

Thanks!
