Windows Explorer runs very slow in thumbnail mode...help!

Jun 6, 2005 2:43AM PDT

I recently upgraded from a P3 with 512k to a P4 with 1 gig. Both are running Windows XP. I like to use Windows Explorer in the thumbnail mode to preview images in different folders. On my old machine, this was very fast, but on my new machine it renders the thumbnails very slowly. Please note that other thumbnail viewers run much faster on my new machine than on my old machine. What could be the cause? Thank you

Make those sellers work for the dollar. Ask them!

-> The usual? Outdated drivers for video, printers and of course, spyware, virus, trojans and worms.

Change folder type
Jun 6, 2005 3:18AM PDT

Right click on the folder
select "customise this folder"
you will see folder types - if it is set to "photo album" then change it to "Pictures".
Also try and put less pictures in each folder.
Delete the file thumbs.db so that you start fresh, just incase its corrupt This may help.
Hope this helps.
