Windows Explorer problems

Hi there
I am running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2.
My computer is a Pentium 4 CPU 2.4 GHZ with 512 ram
The problem I'm having is you can't rename or delete any files or folders in Windows Exploer.
I believe the cause was when in my Norton anti virus program I deleted the quaranteen folder contents. Could this be the cause and can I do anything about it without reformatting.

Check the folder options

Kindly verify if "Hide extensions for known file types" is selected. If it is not selected, select it. Try to delete/rename a file again.

To verify: Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>View tab. Locate "Hide extensions for known file types" then check the box before it.

Don't know if this is applicable or not since it states it is a problem of Windows 2000 Server, but it might be of some help:
