Windows Explorer error message

by rvc73 / May 26, 2008 2:03 PM PDT

Can anyone tell me why I keep getting this error message?
"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."

"error signature
AppName: explorer,.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.4412 ModName: duser.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset: 0002acfa"

This does not seem to create any problems but keeps showing up. Thank you.

Did you click on the link/read I provided?

Which version of XP do you have?

SP 1, SP 2 or SP 3

Or do you have Vista?

What do you do that causes the error message?

The more info you provide the better the chance of someone helping.

First off, I went to the message reply and there was nothing there other then JP Bill had replied, I clicked on the reply window a few times and nothing ever showed up. So obviously I could not use a link you had provided. Not sure why that happened.

Anyhow, I am using Windows XP Professional, (no Vista), I have SP3,
It occurs when I am leaving Windows Explorer. Not sure what else to tell you at this point.
Thank you.

Do you mean the link you sent since I checked a few minutes ago:

"Explorer.exe may generate an application error when you close a folder"?

There was no link at all when I first checked your reply. I see the above link is now in your response. I am not sure what is going on with this but at any rate I did click on the link you have there now and according to Microsoft SP3 will correct the problem. Well, I have SP3 installed on my computer and I did not have the problem before I install SP3. O'well, Thank you very much for your replies, really appreciate you taking the time to try to help me.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
