Just so you know, explorer will still crash if you happen to open a folder with a corrupt file. This can be any number of file types like jpeg, avi to any others. It's a long standing issue that dates back to about 1995. There are so many posts about it that I'll keep it short.
1. Try setting the view to detailed and not any thumbnail or icon view.
2. Use another file browser when you find a folder with files that crash Explorer.
Remember it could be some other reason but I'm taking it as if your PC is new, all stock and such.
