Windows Explorer Cannot Remember Folder View Settings

Feb 28, 2004 1:20AM PST

I don't know why an update from IE5.5SP2 to 6SP1 would have any connection, but ever since updating a week ago, I cannot get Windows Explorer to remember my preferred folder views. I have tried different combinations/sequences for checking, applying, unchecking, rechecking, applying, rebooting etc. etc. and repeating the whole process of "Remember each folder's view settings" via Tools>Folder Options>View Tab.
After a reboot Explorer always returns to Large Icons . I really need the Thumbnails for my graphics, but use Details for everything else. Having to redo view settings is extremely time consuming and I am losing my patience after doing this several times a day for a week. Is there some other way to get WinMe's Explorer to remember my settings?

Registry Changes ME/XP The Same?
Feb 28, 2004 2:42AM PST

Thanks. When I Googled earlier in the week, all solutions to the problem involved registry changes in XP. Will go back a few more pages and see if I find something specifically for ME, unless you think the changes would be the same.
