Is there a way to trim down the thousands of listed events?

Sure.

When I'm using the event viewer to troubleshoot I empty all of them, create the issue and head back to the event viewer. Only what happens from the time I cleared it to when I crashed it will show. This helps me narrow it down.

still in the dark about Event Viewer

I was reading about Event Viewer, and decided to browse it. Wanted to clear out old issues, but cannot find a way to perform a "delete of old events".

Sorry no.

While it has a filter feature, Event Viewer does not had a pick and choose what to delete feature.

Since the default is to drop the oldest events over time, why not delete them all?

Or since you are saying you want to clear out old issues you could always leave it sorted by date and when you hit entries after a certain date, stop working on it.

After browsing all the current logs, and lowering the saved file size from 20560Kb to 10280Kb, I am now satisfied. That you for your insight.
