You say you have the drivers for the Quick Cam installed, I assume from the disk supplied with it? Go to the manufacturers websiste, they should have the latest one. Also, whilst you're at it, check your motherboard manual for the chipset make and type, go to the manufacturers website and get the latest drivers for that as well, and you may want to update your video drivers.
Believe it or not, ALL those are involved in the correct operation.
Failing that, download Ewido, you can get it from www.ewido.net/en, boot to safe mode and to a full scan, deleting what it finds, now reboot and try again, good luck, and let us know how you get on.
Hi, I'm running Windows XP SP2 on a 2005 HP Pavillion laptop. I just bought a Logitech QuickCam and installed the software + drivers.
As soon as it finished the installation, I tried to open MSN Messenger. An error message popped up saying:
''MSN Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. -Close-''
I think, 'Arg. Oh well.' and I click -Close-.
So, I decided to run some antivirus and spyware scans and reboot the computer, but when I opened up Spybot S&D the same error message appeared. Same with Ad-Aware, AVG, and every other program I tried. I rebooted, with the same problems. But, if I don't click the -Close- button and ignore the popup, the programs run fine if not a bit slower. All these errors are extremely annoying because you can't put any windows over or minimize them.
Is this something with the QuickCam software and driver installation? Should I uninstall the software?
