Windows error message

Feb 18, 2004 12:59PM PST

Win98SE

Windows
A fatal exception has occurred at 0028:CO2BB2D0 in VXD IFSMGR(04) + 00012AEC. The current application will be terminated.

When I press any key to terminate current application, screen goes black except for mouse pointer. Then I must use control-alt-delete to shut down the computer.

When I do a step-by-step confirmation and load all Windows drivers, there is a 70 second pause with continuous hard drive activity when the msmouse.vxd is loaded. All other drivers load instantly.

What can I do with this problem? Will installing Win98SE over current installation solve the problem?

uninstalling the mouse software. Normal mouse features, and presumably even the scroll wheel, will continue to work. Post back the results.
