Question

Windows Defender Offline Tool doesn't work

Dec 30, 2014 2:15AM PST

Hello!
I downloaded Windows Defender Offline Tool from an uninfected computer because I want to get rid of a virus from my laptop.
My laptop is 64bit but I don't know what version is the computer I used for download. Maybe that's the problem..
The idea is nothing happened. I mean I insterted the USB in my laptop and restared it. My laptop worked pretty normal. It just took some time (like 1 min) between Starting Windows and enter your password and the screen was black but my laptop was working. Otherwise nothing special happened.
Maybe I didn't understand how to use the program?

Thanx. I was kind of skeptic as well because I didn't see anybody jumping with joy about the program. But I saw is Microsoft and gave it a chance. I will post where you said. But I don't know how to close this one. Quess I'll figure out.

Defender

As a prior poster stated, Defender is all but useless in the real world. IF you must use something MS related, download MSE and give that a try....Microsoft Security Essentials, it is also a freebee...personally I'd look into something that works in real time ..there many options , unfortunately some of the free A/V packages lack real time protection...but can be at least reasonably effective..AVG...AVAST..etc...
