Windows Defender Backup

Apr 13, 2016 7:51PM PDT

New to Windows 10. Have external hard drive for backups. Trying to backup with the W 10 utility which is listed with Windows Defender. All the folders which are to be backed up show with the utility. But when I click on Backup Now absolutely nothing happens What is also strange is that it says that it has done a backup on April 3, that was when the laptop with W 10 was brand new. However, that backup is nowhere to be seen. Should show on the external drive, should it not? I have saved a snippet of the interactive window to launch the backup but do not see a facility to attach that here.
I will be very grateful for your expert advice.

As we learned.

Avoid Microsoft's backup software. Use anything else. If you feel that Microsoft should correct such flaws, well that's for those to go after but here I learned long ago to use anything else.

You could make a free backup software (AOMEI Backupper) a test tool to see if things are all right with it, then you may know the answer.
