Windows Default Picture Viewer

Hi

I am running XP Windows on my computer....

I'm very keen on photography, and somewhere along the line I downloaded a programme to assist with viewing pictures. It is called IrfanView. However, I don't really like the way it performs and would like to go back to using the Windows viewer. But I don't know how to get that setting back (I don't want to return EVERYTHING back to default in my Windows arena).

Any suggestions anybody?

Right click, Open With

Try this.

Find an image file, any one should do, using My Computer or whatever you normally use to list your images.

Right click the file and choose the option "Open with". In the new menu options select "Choose program". In the new Window, highlight Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, then make sure you tick the option to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". Then click OK.

This will re-associate that file type with the Windows image utility. You will need to do this for each image file type.

I hope that helps.

xxSaffyxx, An easy solution is to go to the link below and download the "Imgeditor" program which allows you to restore all image files to the Windows XP default (Windows Default Picture Viewer).

Thank you both

Thanks Tufenuf

I might try that one. I have a lot of images I look through (photography) so clicking into each one selecting the programme is not satisfactory really.
