Windows cannot find 2nd hard drive

by Mryl123 / August 22, 2006 12:36 AM PDT

Windows XP home cannot find 2nd hard drive, it does not show up in disk management. It does show up in the bios.
At one point it did show up, healthy formatted NTFS drive.I was able to add a file after that it was gone.
I have one user account, and GUEST account.
I checked permissions and set them all to enable.
I don't know what else to do.
Help!!
Thanks

2nd HD?? You can easily check if it's getting power or not.
Pull the case & listen to hear if the HD is spinning ( you may have to use a "sounding rod" of some sort, like a srcewdriver - or pull the HD out with the cables attached to listen

If you hear it spinning - make sure the data cables are firmly attached - if no sound from HD, check vo;tages from PSU or try another PSU connector
