Windows Calendar ....

Jul 23, 2007 8:43AM PDT

Each time I start up my computer, it shows the not responding screen for Windows Calendar.

Do you know why it keeps showing up,

A month or two ago I just wanted to try out the program Windows Calendar, so I only added one event for a day on the calendar, and I removed it.

Is there a setting I need to check.

Sorry for not being so much detail about this,

Any suggestions you might give me to check and find out this problem ?

Since you don't use it...

I would disable it as a startup program. I provided a relevant link in your other thread, but also check the Startup folder in the Start Menu and select the WinCal (Windows Calendar) entry if there is one there. It won't fix the program, but it will remove the annoyance.

Hope this helps,
John

I have the same problem but........
Jul 25, 2007 11:24PM PDT

..... I cannot find anything in the Startup folder. I have used "The Ultimate Troubleshooter" as well, that found nothing but I get a failure on every bootup. I have never used the Calendar - it just appeared by itself!

Any further suggestions?

I tried the steps you told me about but still won't work ...
Jul 26, 2007 11:04AM PDT

Thanks John Wilkinson for your help, but I tried those steps you told me about, and I can't find a WinCal process in the start menu.

So it still keeps doing that each start up Sad

I even got the program TuneUp Utilities and it still won't track that WinCal process to remove it.

Sorry but do you have any other suggestions ?

Thanks for your help,

Shaun

Hello I have the same problem as you, cant find win cal to delete it either in the start menu, I have the same problem with Windows defender, I think its working but when I try to access it I cant get in mmm...... To be fair these are the only two persistant software glitches I have had with Vista and They are just an annoyance now, if you come up with a fix before Microsoft please publish it.

Windows Calendar

Can you open Windows Calendar? If so have you tried clicking on File then Options, untic the box by Reminders should show when Windows Calendar is not running, restart the computer and see if this resolves the issue.

To see what programs maybe starting up with the computer click on the Start button, in the Start Search box type in msconfig and press enter, click on the Startup tab and see if you can find the offender there.

Hope this helps,

win Cal error message
Jul 30, 2007 9:14AM PDT

Hello Northlite,
Thank you for your time, yes tried what you said, I tried to eliminate this earlier by unticking the boxes, still got windows cal stopped working, the start menu is a mistery to me, I use the tools option in Advanced Windows Care v 2 Personal which displays the start up, I only have my anti virus option running on that not my goole notifier or other apps, I am a little cautious about going into running processes on task manager perhaps thats next ! These win cal and defender apps seem to be built into Vista, several people have commented on not being able to uninsall them, I know I cant, I have tried reinstalling a fresh version of defender and you cant do that either, perhaps Microsoft have not figured out a solution yet themselves either, thats seems all the reporting a problem option in control panel seems to do.

Thanks again, all the best
Mick
