Is since you can at least access the drive with an Ubuntu LiveCD, is use that to pull the data you need right now off of the drive. Put it on another CD, a flash drive that is working in Windows, a floppy, email it to yourself... Whatever it takes. That way, you aren't being held hostage by a stupid Windows trick, and you can work on why Windows is being stupid when you have some spare time, instead of when you should be doing other things.
i was talking about my problem a little here: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6617_102-0.html?forumID=11&threadID=258449&messageID=2551661#2551661
and I still have a problem. when i plug in my 12 GB I/O Magic flash drive to my Windows computer, it will not read it and when i try and hit the start menu or open My Computer from my desktop, the computer freezes and will not continue to open the start menu or my computer until i just pull the drive out. i booted to a ubuntu live cd, and the drive works just fine. i can add/delete/rename anything on the drive.
PLEASE help, I have a lot of important stuff on that 12 GB drive!!
Thank You.
