Windows 98SE Shutdown

Feb 5, 2004 11:38PM PST

I continue to have problems getting Windows 98SE to shut down consistently.
I thought I had downloaded a patch to correct this problem.I guess not.
Any suggestions?

Bob:
Thanks for your help I will follow up shortly.
What was the patch supposed to do in this regard if not fix the problem?

"What was the patch supposed to do in this regard if not fix the problem?"

Once you read the Shutdown Article it will become more clear that there are multiple causes and this was to fix Microsoft's (MS) cause, not all the others.

A perverse sense of humor is that MS might fix its own bugs but not everyone elses?

Hi,
I had the same problem with 98Se. The computer hung at the final shutdown screen. I installed patches, but the problem wasn't resolved until I installed the latest upgraded patch which is available from Microsoft.

Sorry I can't give you a link, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it now that you know it's there.
Regards,
Peter
