Windows 98SE and Mp3 players?

Apr 25, 2006 4:56PM PDT

I've just purchased a Toshiba Gigabeat MEG-F40C which I fear will not work with Windows 98SE. Can anyone suggest any Mp3 players that are compatable with Windows 98? I know 98 is somewhat dated but I have no reason to change my operating system, certainly not for an Mp3 player. Any help would be appreciated.

although i only use it on my wME and XP, this should work on 98 because it's plug and play,,,,and the mp3's are drag/drop.

Windows 98SE

Well that sounds promising. I'm being told that the minimum operating system for the Gigaroom software is Windows 2000 with WMP9 at the least. I think I may as well load everything and just see what happens. Thanks for the info.

Check the box of the player you look at

You'll need to check the box of the player you choose, to see if they support win98SE. Not all do, even though they are USB mass storage devices.

So even if some players are ''drag and drop'' compatible, that does not mean they must be win98SE compatible.

I think that most of the MP3 players made by Creative (Zen MP3 players) work with Windows 98SE. It says so in its system requirements in the site, so I think its guarenteed. I'm running on Windows 98SE and am hoping to get a Zen Microphoto soon.
