Windows 98se was required and then you had to be sure you logged into 98 with an account name and password that existed on XP and other PCs.
I can't guess why it stopped as I am not your IT staff. But I remember a little about this. HOWEVER don't you find it odd it would fail on the 1st of the month?

We have 15 computers in network and 3 pc are running with windows98 OS.Remaining all PCs are with windows7 and win xp. Right now i am encountered problem with one of win98 PC. I cannot access other computer shared files from this win98 PC. It is showing network not accessible. But i can Ping all computers IP from this pc and status is OK. I can view this win98 PC files from other computers. It looks starnge to me. Previously it is working fine. Yesterday only started this issue.
Many ways i tried like rebooting unpluging the ethrtnet connection.But no use. how can i resolve this issue.
