Didn't some patch bust that?
I hear of no plans to fix it.
I have a used compaq presario 5441 desktop factory installed win.98. After purchasing my first used PC, a co-worker helped me install windows 98 second editions at my apartment. After my co-worker moved to a better job and my 30-day warranty expired, I noticed the Windows 98 Help Tool works fine when i use it to find answers to most questions, except the Troubleshooting section. First,i click Start-Help on bottom left corner of window. The window help tool system appears. Under the "index" tab i type in "troubleshooting" or scroll down to it. Next,I highlight troubleshooting and move down to click the button "Display". Another small window appears called "Topics Found". I then highlight the specific item ,like, DirectX Troubleshooter or Modem troubleshooter and move down to click "Display" button. On the right side of windows help tool, a blue underlined "click here" to start modem troubleshooter appears. After clicking the blue words,a question on the right side ask " What problems are you having?". So I chose one problem by clicking on it and move to bottom to click the button "Next" and all i get is a blank screen on the right side. Compaq and HP does not make a Restore Disk for Windows 98 Second Edition, nor for my outdated PC. I have tried reinstalling Windows 98 SE with my Full Version retail CD,but no luck in getting troubleshooting to open. Everything else works in the Window Help Tool. Is this something my PC needs? Thanks for any help. bluewaters out
