Are you a shill?

All your posts note only one site. I don't trust such advice.

Thanks for the help

so what exactly is a shill?
I do have windows 98se and have installed the driver ohm pointed me too. I borrowed my friends ipod and my computer now recognises it!
So now i need a program to run it off? What do you know about sharepod - i am reluctant to install it on my friends ipod in case it is dodgy.
Any thoughts on winamp or realplayer? and are they compatible with windows 98?
Thanks again

When a poster offer a single solution, look at...

Their profile. If you see a pattern then you have to ask if they are a "shill" or have a connection to what they offer or ... just overexcited.

ah thanks for the tip

so can i ask what your thoughts are on the programs i might use?

I have no preferences here.

Since you have a solution, run with it and be happy.

I'm (finally) seeing a big dropoff in Windows 98/ME machines this year. So enjoy it while there are still some things that work.

-> Here's why. 98/ME programs/driver developments are in steep decline. Not only has it been some 4 years since new machines were available with this old OS but Microsoft has retracted and hidden the driver development kits for this old OS. You would be hard pressed as a new developer to write a driver with MS's current development kits for Windows 98.

it worked, but nows its gone again!!

yeah i know 98SE is hardly cutting edge. I'm currently a student so obviously i'll be upgrading as soon as i graduate and start earning!
but i tried what ohm said and it worked, using the win98-iPod-PSP-v21.exe driver and ephpod software. except today i tried again and my computer didnt even notice the ipod being plugged into it, ie the drive wasnt detected.
i tried macopener but my computer now wont even see any devices that might necessitate a driver. is there any way to force it to have a look other than the standard 'add new harware' stuff?
cheers. damn i wanna graduate.

Go with what works.

If add new hardware works, then that's what we do.

yeah but what is that?
Jul 14, 2005 2:09PM PDT

sure i tried add new hardware but no joy there.
it just wont show up as an external drive anymore (did and worked absolutely fine the first time i tried it), and my computer seems determined to ignore its existance. i read somewhere about switching the ipod to 'disk mode' so that it can be recognised as an external drive, so i'm gonna try that. not hopeful though, damn computers.

Gave up and got something better

Hey you'll be pleased to hear i fixed the problem by simply resetting the ipod, but it lost some of its files so i thought i'd steer clear.
got myself a 1GB Creative Muvo TX FM, works like a charm and much smaller Happy
cheers.

Look, there is my real name on webpage, scammers don't act that way.
I'm just specializing in supporting various USB devices under Windows 98, hence my posting with links to my site, http://www.98-drivers.com/ipod.html
