I have windows 8 pro and when I start the store app it doesn't load and when I go back to desktop it says werfault.exe - application error the instruction at 0xf96ef417 referenced memory at 0xf96ef417 the memory could not be written click ok to terminate the program. idk why this is happening, could it be fixed with a registry scan?

Firstly...

... don't use registry cleaners they do more harm than good. Have you tried turning of Windows error reporting in action centre temporarily.

How about a system restore back to when this didn't happen.

you were wrong with saying registry cleaners do more harm than good, the registry is a very important part of your os and if theres errors in it, your pc could slowdown or you may not be able to use programs or other stuff correctly anyway, I don't know when It started happening, I just noticed it today

Well....

most members here would advise against them but that's your choice. Does it run as normal after a reboot?

I think you should do a very thorough clean up with that registry cleaner and keep the computer repair shops with a steady supply of business but if you were smart you would heed Dafydd's warnings...Digger.

Glad to hear you got your problem fixed. Happy

I would strongly suggest taking the advice given by Dafydd in regard to registry cleaners and/or optimizers. Steer clear of them!

Do yourself a favor and use the search function at the top of the page. You will find (first-hand) examples of the reasoning behind registry cleaners doing "more harm than good".

This article may be out-dated, but what's in it stands the test of time.

• "Why I don't use registry cleaners" by Ed Bott

• Here's a simple blog post written by a member of the security community.. "Registry Cleaners and System Tweaking Tools"

Time constraints prevent me from adding anything more. I would ask you reconsider the faith you put in registry cleaners. The risks far outweigh the benefits.
