Question

Windows 8 settings charm

Oct 7, 2013 8:38PM PDT

I have a new laptop using Windows 8 and I'm still trying to get to grips with it. When I click onto apps - search, I get a whole list of apps , but when I click onto settings - search the screen remains blue. If I type just one letter e.g."a" then search I get all the search terms containing an a . How can I get the whole list to display without entering a search term?

the search will search apps and the web. To do a search all you do is start typing on the Metro screen and the list will appear. I'm at work and my Windows 8 machine is at home so I can't test out what your saying in settings.

If you don't use Classic Shell...

...then your brain is certainly wired very differently from mine. If you want to beat your head against the wall with all that Metro stuff, more power to you. But for me, I can't think of any good reason to do that. I know how to do it, but for the life of me I can't figure out why anybody with a desktop or laptop would want to. You can get the FREE Classic Shell from http://www.classicshell.net and live happily ever after. Grin
