Compared to what?

As just a general comment, I agree with Bob that there's nothing wrong with it as long as you install the free Classic Shell. That Metro stuff makes zero sense to me and a whole lot of other folks, but if you install Classic Shell, you can forget Metro.
I also agree as another poster says, I wouldn't pay to upgrade to 8 from 7 without some good reason, and I don't really know of what that might be. There's nothing in 8 that I couldn't do with 7, especially given that Windows 10 will be out sometime this spring. I've been a Windows 10 tester since early October, and it runs all my old software, it has the Start menu back, and it's been rock solid on my test computer. YMMV.
OTOH if you're still running XP or even Vista, I'd say it makes sense to upgrade, but again Windows 10 this spring might be a better alternative.

Good luck.

I consider my co-workers to be professional software developers so they use it just fine. However all of us did install Classic Shell. But as an OS it's been one of the best Microsoft put out. It's a shame they pushed Metro so hard otherwise folk may have not dis'd on 8 so badly.

and they boot to the desktop and we don't use any 3rd party start menu programs. We're also using Surface 3's with docking stations and larger screens for mgmt. We don't endorse 3rd party menu programs.
