Question

Windows 8-Browser Issues

Aug 20, 2013 11:11AM PDT

A corrupt hard drive forced me to buy a new CPU with Windows 8 loaded. Ever since, I have had browser issues galore! Whether it's Chrome or IE doesn't matter. Slow load times, even after loading, pictures need to be manually downloaded. Facebook slow to load, it is driving me mad! I checked with Verizon and the speed is fine. If anyone has encountered this, please help!

What did you buy?

There are many PCs that are new and slow. At the office we have a dozen Windows 8 laptops and I don't seem to find them any slower than our old gear.

Speed

It's not necessarily the speed that bothers me, it's the fact that there are too many times where they never download the complete webpage.

Again, all good here.

If it's new and doing this, why keep it? Since you didn't answer my first question I get the idea that it's not something you want to discuss so moving on to the next advice is to return it for something better.

Also, I've never found a corrupted drive to be the end of a machine. For well under 100 bucks I can replace a drive and if the OS is corrupt I can re-install that OS.

But I am aware there are folk that are not happy about Windows and how it can require us to reinstall it. My thought is this is a huge reason why tablets are selling well. Most tablets never offer any option to wipe out or need the OS reinstalled.
