Resolved Question

Windows 8.1 will not power up

Jan 17, 2014 1:38AM PST

HDX 18T CTO
1TB Analog hardrive
4GB DDR2 RAM
Windows 8.0 upgraded to 8.1 with all updates

Only recently my Windows 8.1 refused to power up.
I turn on the computer and it sometimes gets up to the HP Emblem screen and other times not even to that and powers off by itself.

I recently added the IOBIT Defragment update.. but this problem started to occur even before that.
I tried to get my Windows 8.0 CD to act as a boot up but not even that will work. My power cord seems to be functioning well ...and shows it is lit up where it inserts... but the front panel light for power does not light up...

Thanks for your suggestions... Jesse Jr

Looks like a warranty call.

If you forgot to backup your stuff I suggest you put the drive into some enclosure to copy out your files before you call HP.

Frankly, after my last HP experience which was my last with 8 hours on the call, ship to HP and never had a working laptop after that I'd go for a refund instead.

Thanks for your useful information....
I did not expect this to happen with my own laptop..
I has given me problems before but not like this...

Fortunately I have this under a local warranty with a computer repair place in Bangor...
I will go there for an immediate repair.

You have been a help .. thanks..
...and yes.. my files are backed up...
