I have a few Androids (phones and more) and not only must I install a driver for them but I have to set the phone/other thing to do something when connected. Some I have set to share the memory card, another I have set to share the camera and another is sharing nothing.
So what you wrote is proper and can be very upsetting the first time out.

I have windows 8.1 and when i plug in my nexus 4, it appears a small window that asks me what i want to do with the device. When i click on it , the only option i have is "take no action" and doesn't open it. my pc sees the device but it doesn't open it.How could i fix it?
