Question

Windows 7, won't work in Normal mode. Only safe mode works.

Sep 9, 2015 1:08PM PDT

Hello there,
I really need help on this one. When I switched on my laptop ( Hp windows 7) , it started as usual and it screened the message " starting windows" as usual , after starting I was expecting the log on screen to come. But there it was, just a black screen while the standard windows tune was heard, there was NO log on screen. It was just black.
Then I went into safe mode with networking. And that's all how it works now.
Please I would be really greatful if you could help me out.

So basically the laptop is functioning all fine in safe mode but wouldn't go further the " starting windows" message in normal mode.
Please Please help

Answer
Open an administrator command prompt.

From the administrator command prompt issue the following command:: SFC /scannow. That'll check for and attempt repair of any corrupt system files it finds. If that doesn't help, try booting from a repair disc. If that doesn't work, it'll be time to look through the cryptic system event log for things marked Error in red.

in safe mode, try doing a system restore to a restore point dated just prior to when the problem started.
