Windows 7 - wakeup - display settings

Oct 28, 2009 3:58PM PDT

Hello,

I have installed Windows 7 Professional on my new HP6830 (1680x1050) and a HP1955-TFT (1280x1024) attached over VGA and display settings are extend desktop. I have no troubble wen I make a clean shutdown and reboot with attached extern TFT. But in chase of wakeup from hybernation/sleep with attached TFT, I only get (1280x1024) on the main screen and display settings are set to duplicate display.
Over display settings it shows both displays but the settings have changed to duplicate. I can now set it back to extend desktop = 2x(1280x1024) and then scan again for displays = back to (1680x1050 + 1280x1024).

(Still using Win 7 standard driver)

Normally this 3 clicks wouldn't bother me that much, but every time I have to rearrange my changed windows possitions and this sucks!

Does anybody have an idear where the problem could be and how to solve this?

Thanks,

Theo.

Windows 7 - wakeup - display settings - new driver
Oct 28, 2009 5:56PM PDT

Hello again,

now I tested it with the ATI driver from HP.
ATI Catalyst Control Center - Version 2009.0804.1118.18368

And still have the same results.
Normal Bootup: recognises both screens and jumps to extend display during logon screen.

Wakeup: recognises both screens but keeps in copy display mode and doint that, rearanges all open windows.

Windows 7 or ATI-Driver Problem?

Thanks,

Theo.

Let's say: a problem between Windows 7 and the driver.

Ask HP for a updated version.

I went out to the HP site and for my laptop

and all Windows 7 drivers were out there. They've been there for a couple of weeks.

Already done ...

As I told in my second post, I tried both, the included Windows 7 64bit driver and the Windows 7 64bit driver from the HP-Support Homepage for the 6830s.
In any case the result was the same.
bootup: all fine
wakeup: changed display settings from extended to duplicate desktop with the resolution of the smaller HP1955 (1280x1024) and shifted application-windows.

(Catalyst driver from HP was updated 22.10.2009)
