Resolved Question

Windows 7 Ult mouse cursor has moved off screen. Why?

Nov 18, 2011 6:28AM PST

On booting up today, there was no mouse cursor in the centre of the screen.
I discovered that if I operate the mouse quickly, the cursor would appear from the top right corner of the screen but as soon as I stop the mouse, the cursor moves quickly back to the top right corner and disappears. I do not have the time to click on anything.
Is there anything simple that I can do without calling in a computer technician?

Yes, I rebooted and the problem remains.
The day before the problem I installed Adobe Flash and there was aMicrosoft update.
My system is dual-booting iMac. Never had any problem until now.
Never used system restore.

For the apply the fixes vary. Let's get the full details so we can tackle this.

And why didn't you use system restore? It could avoid a long drawn out discussion.

How can I do system restore without a mouse?
It is a Mini Server (two Hard Drives) with Snow Leopard (not the server software)
The Windows 7 is by BootCamp.
Thank you for your interest.

System restore needs no mouse.

In fact I can use an Apple or Windows machine with no mouse. Here's the basics.

Practice using the TAB and ARROW KEYS to navigate and the ENTER key as a mouse click. Safe mode in Windows is documented how to get there so I'll skip writing about that.

Sorry for the apple/apply typo.

Problem cured

All well now.
The mouse was unplugged from the hub, a 7 port powered Belkin, and plugged directly into the imac.
It had been working fine in the hub until last Friday.........
Thank you for your advice Bob.
