Question

Windows 7 thinks my D: drive is the temporary burn folder.

Jan 11, 2013 1:11AM PST

After burning a CD about a week ago, I started getting a message saying I had files waiting to be burned to disc. I clicked the message to look at the files, and they were the entire contents of my 2nd hard drive (DHappy. I clicked the "Delete Temporary Files" button, thinking my drive's contents were somehow copied to the Temporary Burn Folder, and Windows started deleting files from my D: drive! How do I convince Windows that my D: drive is NOT my temp folder?

The "Temporary Burn Folder" on my C: drive is empty.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with SP1 on an HP pavilion desktop. My C: drive is an aftermarket SSD, my D: drive is the original 1TB drive that came with the computer (as C:), my optical drive is in E:

Thanks for your help!

The instructions in the link worked like a charm. Thanks for your help. Still not sure how my computer decided that D: was the correct TEMP folder, but it's fixed now, and that's what really matters.

And with that out of the way.

I suggest you FORGET about Windows 7's native recording tools. I disable them and use other apps depending on what I want to make.

Here's a list of titles I used last year making various audio, video and data CD/DVDs.

CDBURNERXP
IMGBURN
DVD FLICK
ITUNES
HANDBRAKE

All these are free titles and IMO, a better solution.
