Windows 7 repair from Windows 10

Hello, I recently received error code 0xc000000f after a regular Windows update. I am currently unable to download the Windows 10 installation file from Microsoft because I do not have access to another computer. Since I still have my Windows 7 repair disk from the manufacture, am I able to use this disk to repair my computer?

I realize I'll be converted back to Windows 7 which is fine. My concern is, I am not sure if it will cause any problems with other files on my computer.

How quick do you need this?

If you can take a week, then order a Mint Linux 17.3 disc and use that to copy off all your personal files before installing W7 from your manufacturer's discs. You will then also have it around later if needed for another rescue. Boots to fully operational system from DVD. However since it's "read only" you need to copy files from your hard drive to an external USB HDD or flashdrive.

This exact one for that computer.

Doesn't need to be quick

Well the problem is I get the error on boot and it won't let me do anything without an installation disc

still try linux disk

the error on boot is a windows error otherwise an installation disc would not boot. you can either order a linux disk or download and create a live disk. I would suggest linux mint.

Actually it can just make a bigger mess.

If you do this, you must know that all files on the drives connected to this PC are likely to vanish.

If you are ready, then why not? You can install W7, get it working then run the Microsoft Media Creation Kit to make your W10 install/repair stick and then move back to W10, then finally copy your files back on from backups.
