Question

Windows 7 proff 64bit and win xp mode

Oct 19, 2011 4:01AM PDT

Hi,
We still running an old 16bit foxpro dos application wich is located on a NT 4.0 SERVER SPK6 workgroup, no domain, in other words the foxprol.exe file resides in a network drive as well as the prg files and the bat files too, so when we need to run these old dos foxpro prg files, we can do it cause we have the win xp worskstations mapped to the server driive so we have a shortcut in the desktop for example that calls the prg files as F:\USERS\MACHINE.BAT, inside the machine.bat, we have a line statement that execute the Foxprol.exe and then it calls the prg file, ok so since WIN 7 64bit do not run 16bit applications, i installed win xp mode and virtual pc from Microsoft, the problem is that if i created the shortcut in win xp mode to call the bat file, but it will never find the path to the F:\USERS\MACHINE.BAT, INSTEAD it will create something like \\nsclient\F\users\machine.bat and this will never allow me to find the prg file and i get the message " file not found", i don't know if anyone here knows if i can accomplish it and how ? Thanks a lot in advance

This area is one I've worked on before but for pay. Your app developer should know how to do this or supply a patch/fix.

There are more settings available but if you can't deal with your developer I think Microsoft Support has some answers on how to connect to the NT 4,0 Server from the 7+XP Mode system.
