Question

Windows 7 or Windows 8.1?

Apr 16, 2015 4:19PM PDT

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 in my laptop. But, somebody asking me to install Windows 8.1. Will it cause any problem to run any specific application with Windows 7? I feel Windows 7 is more user friendly, although I have not used Windows 8.1, still..... What should I do?

Regards,
Alon Solomon

If it doubt, don't, and wait for Windows 10. Or ask that somebody to show you why he thinks it's bettter.

Is this your new HP on which McAfee can't be updated. Or is this another one, just one of the two or three you are using?

Installing Windows 8.1 means your applications will need to be reinstalled. I fear that for many that is a problem.

If it all works, why do this?

PS. I find Windows 8.x to be just fine, after I installed Classic Shell.

Thanks Bob for your reply. Can you tell me, if a software is properly running on windows 7, so is it sure that, it will definitely run on windows 8.1?

Absolutely can't tell you that. Why?

Because with deprecation of some old methods (AKA APIs) this means that while rare, there can be some app that won't run.
