Question

Windows 7 notification task bar icon errors

Aug 31, 2017 1:41PM PDT

Hi

The notifications in the right-hand bottom on the taskbar have some programs, that I have uninstalled. But they are still showing up. Please see the attached pic.

Any help is appreciated.

Also, many of those require you to reboot to really get rid of them.

Uninstalled

Hi,

The applications were uninstalled. I have re-started the PC multiple times, but they still remain in the notification area !

Sad

So cruft.

Now we have to ask if they are still in the tray or just in the notification menu.

Remember Microsoft does not consider this to be a bug or something to worry about. They call these "cosmetic issues" and have never shown any sign of changing their stance over cosmetic issues.

That said, https://www.ghacks.net/2010/02/09/remove-old-notification-icons-in-windows-7/ notes the manual method and a tool called Tray Cleaner.

I find folk get irked that Microsoft has never committed to fixing areas like this.

Thanks for that.

I had searched for something like that but didn't find the one at sevenforums. Much easier than the registry edit.
