But seeing this >startuprepairoffline< , and no restore points, I believe you would need a Win 7 disc and go through the Bootrec.exe tool .
Maybe the Pro,s have better or more options ....
After not using computer for some time, I'm not sure what could be the issue with it. I've tried numerous things and nothing seems to have resolved, and I am not very technically adept with computer hardware. Anyway, Windows 7 was getting stuck on loading screen, so went to reset, would then ask to go through start up repair, first time this happened, it seemed to have resolved the problem. Worked for almost 2 weeks with no further issues. Went to switch it on again a few days ago and it did the same thing; didn't want to load past the windows screen again. Reset it again thinking maybe the start up repair will solve the problem. Once start up repair had completed this time it had said that it couldn't repair this automatically; short of it was the Problem: startuprepairoffline, auto fail over and no root cause. Unfortunately I am not able to do a system restore as there is not one available. So I decided to boot computer up in safe mode after doing a little reading. Whilst in safe mode decided to uninstall all the crap that my ex partner had put onto it (games and stuff that went with it mainly) was quite apprehensive about what I was uninstalling as I didn't want to corrupt the operating system or make it not work any more than it was. Saved some files and photos of my daughter onto a USB drive because I was afraid that it wouldn't come back on. (couldn't get them all to the dongle as there wasn't a lot of room on there) and decided to run a check disk. Restarted and let it run its course. This was probably done at 10am, and still wasn't finished when I had gone to bed at probably midnight. The next morning, I came down to the computer being on in standby mode, I wriggle the mouse and was quite relieved that whatever effort the disc check had done had made the computer switch back on and passed the windows loading screen. Switch it off that evening, thinking that maybe it will work the next day, I have come down today and it's doing the same thing, I am currently running another check disk which seems to have run alot faster than the last one that ran. And hoping that It will load past the windows loading screen once it completes. I'm not sure if I have uninstalled something I shouldn't have when trying to cleanse the hdd. What is the fix for this? I don't know if there is one. Please could someone who knows what I'm bumbling on about please give me a little advice. Thank you, and sorry for the essay! (also posted in win 7 forum)
