Windows 7--Media Player

I can not get my Media Player to play anything. I get an error code C00D11B1. What is it and how do you get rid of it?

Downloaded VLC Player and it works fine. Many thanks Bob. I sure do appreciate it.

VLC avoids having to diddle with codecs and more.
