Question

Windows 7 keeps crashing

Mar 1, 2016 1:17PM PST

I have a custom built tower with a Z170A PC Mate Pro Series motherboard. Runs Win 7. Every 20 minutes or so, windows crashes (blue screen of death)

They both say to disable/remove any newly installed hdw or software (done). Disable BIOS memory options (can't find it). Gives the following technical information:

Stop: 0x00000135
cewd64r.sys
-and-
Stop: 0x0000001A

I got this computer in November and am an hour away from where I bought it from, so any help on something I can fix at home would be appreciated.

Covenant Eyes: Internet Accountability and Filtering

While an interesting choice it appears to be defective. And again, since it's not part of Windows your call that it's Windows crashing isn't quite right. It's something someone added that is crashing this system.

Never been a problem until today.

We've had Covenant Eyes on 2 other Windows 7 machines, and XP, plus a handful of mobile devices. This machine has had it from day 1. It hasn't crashed pretty much since my OP (go figure). But if it does it I'll do the uninstall. However, if Covenant Eyes can't be used, we'll end up finding another similar software to run.

I only said Windows was crashing because one minute Windows is working. The next minute the computer is rebooting. It wasn't the BIOS crashing. If I had know the software was crashing I would've said that. So pardon for me for calling what I thought it was.

It could be hardware glitches

and it just happened to crash when that file was being used, but after searching on it, I'm of opinion it named the correct cause.

Your post has the lead to what crashed.

Since you feel it's good stuff, time to tell them it crashed. My advice is to remove it.
