Question

Windows 7 & Google Chrome - Typing Changes to Tabs

Sep 13, 2012 4:19AM PDT

Hello

My laptop = HP Pavilion DVD6-6175ca
Windows 7
Google Chrome

ISSUE: Online typing sometimes stops working and changes to Tabs only

I'm sure this is a simple fixer upper, but due to frequency decided to ask for input to fix.

Sometimes while typing email or composing craigslist ad, the keys stop working and only tabs work. By using mouse to click cursor back to where I need to continue typing, key strokes do not work but with each mouse click a tab opens new home page on google chrome.

I don't know if this is an HP issue, or Windows 7, or google chrome issue or combo. I have wondered if my left thumb may have tapped on the touchpad or used control versus shift key.

When I go offline, tabs continue to work, keys do not. In order to get keys to work again, I need to restart computer.

Any input is welcomed and appreciated. Thank you,
Gem

Thank you for the link...

I never considered overheating as being a cause for this problem. I do not recall if the fans are running when this problem occurs. I assumed it could be something related to disabling touchpad or function key. I will take note of fans the next time this occurs.

Thank you for your input,

Are you telling the forum you wait for signs it needs cleaning?
