Question

Windows 7 Critical update 1/11/13

Jan 13, 2013 12:04AM PST

My computer won't start after Windows 7 critical update 1/11/13. I was able to start in safe mode and restore to an earlier date. However, that only worked for 1 day. Now it won't connect to wireless either. Any suggestions?

Have you run a registry cleaner?

If you've run a registry cleaner, that's likely the source of your problem. They do no noticeable good and can cause problems. Whatever the cause, I'd back up any data you want to save and prepare to restore your computer to factory settings.

Good luck.

All we recommend about registry cleaners: DON'T USE.
Why do you think you need one?

Registry cleaners are ALL snake oil

There are no good registry cleaners. Avoid all of them. Back in the Windows 95/98/Me days they could help, but beginning with Windows 2000, MS rewrote the way it handles the registry so that they were unnecessary. However the word has been slow to get out about that. What happens is that there're entries in the registry that're there for future use but not currently used. These cleaners remove those and when updates come along that depend on them, whamo, you get problems. The best registry cleaner is the one(s) you don't use.

Good luck.
